Survey responses in SurveyGizmo will have various statuses. Below we'll discuss what each status means.
Responses are Real, Test or Quarantined.
- Real Responses - Are those collected via live links and other share methods available on the Share tab.
- Quarantined Responses - Responses can be marked as quarantined in bulk using the Data Cleaning Tool. Quarantined responses will be automatically filtered out of your reports and exports.
- Test Responses - Test responses can be created in multiple places. Responses recorded via the Test tab, either manually or auto generated, will be flagged as Test data. Responses that are collected via test email campaign links will also be marked as Test.
Responses also have a completion status of Complete, Partial, Disqualified or Deleted.
- Complete - The respondent reached the Thank You page of your survey. These are the best types of responses!
- Partial* - The respondent clicked the Next button on at least the first page but has not yet reached the Thank You page.
- Disqualified - Responses where disqualification logic or quotas were triggered within your survey.
- Deleted - The response was manually deleted here on the Responses tab by clicking the red X next to the response.
*Partial responses with no data - Partial responses with no data can be the result of either:
- un-required questions which allow the respondent to navigate past the first page of your survey
- unanswered required questions on the first page. Attempting to submit the first page of a survey without answering required questions will trigger the this question is required message (thus hitting SurveyGizmo servers and recording a Partial response)
Responses that have been collected since your last login will be flagged as New.
If you wish, you can change the type of responses you're viewing by status by clicking the Show Responses: Filtered option, then selecting which types of responses you want to view. The same applies with your Deleted responses. You can also Customize the grid to display the response to important questions in your survey.
Override Response Status
If you want to change the status of a response while a respondent is taking your survey, you can override their response status when they reach a specific page on your survey.
For example, you might want to override response status if your respondents give you a 'complete' response prior to the Thank You page of your survey and then you ask a series of optional demographic questions (where they might then abandon the survey).
To set this up, click the pencil icon over right hand corner of the page.
At the bottom of the panel that slides out is the option to Override Response Status. Make your selection and be sure to Save Page.
Restore Deleted Response
Let's face it, we all make mistakes sometimes and if you accidentally delete a response, it's easy to restore it!
Click the Show Responses: Deleted option above the response grid, then find the response you want to restore. Click the undo arrow to the right of the response and say OK when prompted. That's it, the response is restored!

@Giannina: Thank you for looking into SurveyGizmo Documentation!
A response is marked partial or complete only when the respondent selects the “Next” or “Submit” button. A respondents’ response will be saved when they manually select those button options regardless of hidden values on the first two pages.
I hope this helps clarify!
Cheers!

We have a survey that has hidden value actions on the 1st page (to collect URL variables). If a respondent clicks into the survey and sees the first page, but exits before clicking the "Next" button, will this survey be considered a Partial because some data was already collected through the hidden value? Or is a response a partial ONLY when the "Next" button is clicked?
Additionally, we have another survey that collects hidden values via two auto-submitted pages in the very beginning of the survey. So, if someone clicks on their unique survey link and sees their "first page", that response would have already gone through two pages of auto-submitted data. Even if this respondent clicks out before hitting "Next", is this considered Partial as well?
Thanks in advance!

@Berenice: Responses can only be marked as Quarantined systematically via the data cleaning cool. You can, however, mark a response as disqualified if you wish. Simply select the response and select Disqualify in the top menu bar that appears. I hope this helps!

Is there a way to set manually a response to a Quarantine status?

@Julia: Thank you for your question!
A clicked status indicates an email message with a survey link or unsubscribe link that has been clicked by the recipient.
Information about this and another email status can be found here:
https://help.surveygizmo.com/help/monitor-contacts#status-log-definitions
I hope this helps!

if I get a response status named "clicked" what does that mean?

@Megafon: Thank you for exploring SurveyGizmo documentation content!
The best option for changing the status from Disqualified to either Partial or Complete, is to use the Data Import Tool bulk update option:
https://help.surveygizmo.com/help/data-import#bulk-update-existing-answers
For your scenario, I would export just the effected response(s), update the Status column to Partial or Complete, and save the file.
You can then use the Data Import Tool, setting the Response ID column to "Match on ResponseID" and mapping the Status column to the Status field.
I hope this helps clarify!

Hello, i have accidentally marked a response as disqualified, but it's a mistake. How i can make it not disqualified again?

@Lianna: Thank you for your question!
You can include Quarantined Responses in your reports/exports via the setting described here:
https://help.surveygizmo.com/help/data-cleaning#reports-and-exports-of-cleaned-data
These responses will not be tagged as 'quarantined' by default, however. Responses can be tagged (one-by-one) using the tools described here:
https://help.surveygizmo.com/help/tag-open-text-responses#add-tag-to-responses-for-categorization
The tag applied to any response will be provided in the 'Tags' column in your export.
I hope this helps!

Is it possible to keep quarantined responses in exports, but for them to simply be tagged as quarantined?

@Village: There's not a way to prevent people from leaving the survey before they've completed their response I am sorry to say.

Is there a way to only collect complete responses?

@Jacqueline.ng: Check out the page path on the Details tab of the disqualified individual responses. This will give you a clue of where this is happening. If this continues to be a mystery reach out to our support team and they can sort it out for you!

I haven't set up disqualification logics for any of the survey questions, but am seeing disqualified responses in the results. Is there any way to check what the reason for disqualification is for each disqualified response?

@Rand: The only way to change the status of a disqualified response is via the API: https://apihelp.surveygizmo.com/help/article/link/surveyresponse-sub-object.
If you are not familiar with APIs reach out to our support team and they can get this fixed up for you!

@Susan: Hi again! You can achieve both of these goals with SurveyGizmo.
In order to send reminders you'll need to use our Email Campaign feature so that we can who has responded and who has not.
Here is our Email Campaign documentation:
http://help.surveygizmo.com/help/article/link/share-survey-via-email
And our documentation about sending Reminders:
http://help.surveygizmo.com/help/article/link/reminders-thank-you
In order to send an email based on a low score you'll use our Send Email action with a little bit of logic to only send when the score is low.
Here is our documentation on the Send Email Action feature:
http://help.surveygizmo.com/help/article/link/send-email-action
And a specific document on how to add logic to determine when the Send Email Action fires:
http://help.surveygizmo.com/help/article/link/use-logic-in-email-notifications
I hope this helps!

Is there a way for the system to send a reminder eMail to people who have not completed their survey and a way to send an eMail to people who report low scores so that we can reach out to them to discuss how we can do better? (we want to send client success/satisfaction surveys to current clients and if they report they are unhappy, we want to be able to course correct.)
