There are a number of methods for providing your survey respondents with a copy of their response.
- You can use the Send Email action to Email a Survey Respondent a Copy of Their Response. Using this option the response details can be included in the body of the email or in a PDF or both.
- You can use the Review Response action to display the response details within the survey itself and include a link to download a PDF that respondents can then save or print.
In this tutorial, we'll cover a workaround that uses the Review Response action in combination with some simple HTML and JavaScript code to add a link for respondents to print from the survey itself.
This workaround is great for most of our customers but may require some tweaking to get it right. If you have a solution that works better please let us know!
Setup
- Start by setting up a Review Action on the page to show all answered questions. If you'd like to include the entire survey, be sure to set up the Review Action and the Print option on the Thank You page of the survey.
- Click Add New Text/Media to follow the Review Action.
- Select Text / Instructions and click into the field and select the Full Mode button (...) in the editor toolbar.
- Then click the View Source button in the editor toolbar.
- Now you are ready to copy and paste the below code. Feel free to adjust the click here text as needed.
<a href="#" id="printButton">Click Here to Print or Download to PDF</a>
- Next, add a JavaScript Action to follow this text/instruction element and paste the below JavaScript code.
$(document).ready(function(){ $("#printButton").click(function(){ window.print(); }); });
Once this setup is complete a link to print will display below your Review Action:

Is it possible to create a print button on one of the first pages that would print the entire survey? I would like it so that respondents have the ability to print the entire survey as soon as they open it.

@Duncan.Raistrick: I did find a way to add some custom CSS to the button itself to spiff it up a bit. Below is some example CSS that you can add under Style > Customize Theme > Custom > Custom CSS:
.printbutton {
background-color: red;
border-radius: 3px;
font-family: arial;
}
You'll also need to add the printbutton CSS class to the Text/Media element itself. This is covered in the following tutorial:
http://help.surveygizmo.com/help/article/link/css-class-names
As far as the print friendly page, my print menu was set up to print a portrait page. The trouble you describe might be specific to your survey. I'll open a ticket with you to follow up.
As far as the download to PDF option using the this Print workaround will not work well for embedded surveys as it will print not just the survey but the parent page where it is embedded. I think the best course of action for this trouble would be to report the trouble with the Download to PDF link in Review actions to our development team and see about getting this fixed up.
Finally, for the email option I would recommend using our Send Email Action to send an email instead of creating a custom button for emailing. Here is our tutorial with more info:

There is a problem that the download as pdf option does not work when embedded - can this be operated from a button? If you are still looking at the issue below I suggest maybe icons for print, download, and email would be great. Would need code for email unless that is already set up - I have not looked yet. Thanks.

Very useful but can you take it a step further: i) some code to format the button; ii) some code to make a print friendly page - mine comes out too large and in landscape.
